Frequently asked questions about surf lessons, surf equipment and conditions

General FAQ

What do I need to bring to my surf lesson?

Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and a bottle of water. We provide surfboards, wetsuits, and rash guards

Do I need any surfing experience to join?

Not at all! Our beginner lessons are designed for complete newcomers. We’ll teach you everything from paddling to standing up safely.

How long does a surf lesson last?

A standard lesson lasts about 1.5 hour, including warm-up, on-land instruction, and in-water practice.

What’s the minimum age for surf lessons?

We usually accept students from 6 years and up. Younger children can join private lessons with parental supervision. Or book our lesson for two.

Are group or private lessons better for beginners?

Both are great options! Group lessons are social and fun, while private lessons offer personalized coaching and faster progress.

Do you provide all the equipment?

Yes! We provide surfboards, wetsuits, and all necessary gear. You just need to bring your beach essentials.

What happens if the weather or waves are bad?

Safety is our top priority. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll reschedule or offer a refund.

Can I rent a surfboard without taking a lesson?

Yes, we offer surfboard and wetsuit rentals for all experience levels. But we advise you to take a lesson when you never surfed before. This will guarantee that you will have more fun in the water.

How do I book a lesson?

You can book online (link), by phone (+351) 919 123 770, or drop by our surf school. We recommend booking in advance during busy seasons.

What should I expect in my first lesson?

You’ll learn basic safety, how to paddle, pop-up techniques, and how to catch your first wave—all with hands-on guidance from certified instructors.

Intermediate Surfers FAQ

Do you offer lessons for intermediate surfers?

Yes! Our intermediate lessons focus on improving technique — like carving, timing, positioning, and reading waves — to help you progress beyond the basics.

Can I rent performance surfboards or just beginner boards?

We have a range of boards available, including short boards, fun boards, and longboards. You can swap boards during your rental to find what fits best.

Can I choose the type of waves or conditions I want to train in?

We’ll do our best to schedule your lesson according to your goals and the day’s conditions. Our instructors match the session to the waves that best suit your level and the specific skills you want to develop.

Can I bring my own board to lessons?

Definitely. If you’re more comfortable on your own board, feel free to bring it — we’ll help you fine-tune your skills on your familiar setup.

Do you provide video analysis or feedback sessions?

For intermediate and advanced coaching packages, we offer optional video analysis to break down your technique and track your improvement.
